V-Sparc usually refers to the Virginia Statewide Program for Addiction Recovery and Care.

It’s an initiative supported by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS). The program’s main purpose is to:

  • Expand access to Peer Recovery Specialists (PRS) across Virginia.

  • Support people with substance use disorders (SUD) and co-occurring mental health challenges.

  • Increase workforce training and certification opportunities for peers.

  • Help behavioral health providers (like outpatient and community agencies) integrate peer support into treatment and recovery programs.

It is often tied into federal/state funding streams, such as the State Opioid Response (SOR) grants, and is connected with PRS training and workforce development efforts across the state.
